Pastured Chicken

Ranch Hand Sue started raising Freedom Ranger Chickens in 2014 when a phone call came in saying that 200 chicks were sent to a nearby post office on accident. Not wanting those chicks to suffer, Sue raced to pick them up, figured out a brooder and raised them all the way to finished product. Since then we have been raising roughly 5000 per year in a rotation on our pasture land. These chickens are renowned for their flavor. They are similar to the Poulet Rouge variety in France which revived rural farms by labeling the quality of these slow growing birds to set them apart from the typical industrial raised Cornish X. These hardy birds live up to their reputation as foragers. As our youngest Quince said when she was 4 as she took her first bite of these chickens "This tastes better than chicken!"
